1 m³ bamboo cube

Project 7 has been issued to all the student before the Hari Raya holiday. When we knew that we can 'play' with bamboo again after the Obelisk project, we all feel excited as we can go to cut bamboo at Tasik Harapan park. A kind of vandalism action. But nobody want to mad with me, so i ask my friend to subscribe it from the bamboo retailers.
Below are the picture of my bamboo cube. After testing of strength and stability of our bamboo cube by Mr.Wan B, our cube is described as defective. For individual work, all the students failed, no exception for anyone of us.So Mr.Wan B gave us a chance for this project by allowing us to combine together our bamboo cube to make it stronger. This is what we called "Bersatu teguh, bercerai roboh" i think.

Bamboo Break & Bamboo Gift

During the holiday, we have a assignment known as bamboo break. For this project, we have to produce two items. The first one is a bamboo cube with size 1m x 1m x1m. As for the second one we were asked to make a small gift. The photos above show a container that i obtained through exchange my small gift with another HBP student. Need not to explain about it, we know that the container functioned as a CONTAINER. hAhA!
Sorry, i am talking nonsense. Okay, seriously the container can be used to carry small size objects such as pencils, eraser, ruler and etc.
If you observe it carefully, you will found that the container has lid. This offers me convenience when using it to carry my things because the lid keep the things inside safer and won't lost easily.
Another merit point i give it is that the container itself is tied using scout's colligation. The person who create it shows his/her skillful technique and patience as this masterpiece is so delicate and well-refined.

Kem Pimpin Siswa

This year 2009, we as the first batch of APEX students are compulsory to go for Kem Pimpin Siswa which is organized by BHEPP. All the HBP students have been distributed to the 4th series that is the last series in this camping event. The camping date start from 7 August 2009 until 9 August, altogether 3 days and 2 nights.
Kem Belantara Elit at Kuala Nerang, Kedah is my camping site.
On 7th August, early in the morning, all the students gathered at the marching field in front of DUP. After taking attendence, we mount on our bus then heading to our destination.

Once we reach there, it rained cats and dogs. Immediately, the camp manager asks us to shelter inside a house. After giving us some briefing, the activity started. Each person is given a small flag, plate, fork and spoon. During these three days, it is our duty to take care of the tools mentioned before. Besides, a big flag also given to each group consist of about 15 people. If we lost our flag, punishment is awaits for us.

At the first night we spend there, we have an unforgettable experience. Just when we sleep nicely after a exhausting day (we set up our tent), the alarm sounds. We had to walk inside the jungle at 2 am !!! Moreover, the ground is muddy after raining. We passed through the jungle and unfortunately i fall into the mud. Argh~~~
there is another thing i want to stress here, MY LEG IS SUCKED BY A LEECH !!!

For our 2nd day, the important event is they gave a live chicken to us. Without much explanation, you can guess what we did next.
Ya, the chicken is to be slaughtered because it is our meal. If you don't want to slaughter it, then you starve lo. Luckily my group member do the "murder" job. Hehe...
After eating, i wash the dishes because i didn't contribute much in 'masak-masak'. Only few boys in the camp know how to cook, so i don't feel ashamed of it.

3rd day (9 August 2009), we have our group's presentation. After it, we packed up our things, clean up our camping site and heading back USM. I feel very happy because i can have sufficient sleep finally after a torturing 3 days camping.

Project 2C ~ The Mask

For project 2C, we have to make a mask which can represent our identity. It made me recall back my childhood memory when i was in primary school. Now we were asked to produce a full face mask made of papier mache. Since this project require us to work in pairs, so i cooperate with my friend to accomplish the task.

These are the materials that i bought at Tesco to produce the mask. For examples, tissue paper, aluminium foil, food wrapper, rope, flour, and etc. Producing a mask is not an easy job for me as my face get itchy when the flour stick to my face. So i work out with a method by cover my face with a sheet of aluminium foil before put on the papier mache.

After finish making my mask, i found that my mask looks not so nice. So i try to ask my friend how they do their mask. One of them tell me that they use a kind of clay which can get from Durimas. In the hope of producing a better mask, i have bought that clay. Once again, i asked my friend to apply the clay on my face. However, thing does not happened as what i expect. The making of a new mask was unsuccessful. Lastly i submit my mask which looks like "Power Ranger"

(T_T)

This is the clay i bought at Durimas.

I wear this mask for my project 5a - Merdeka Object Installation on 28th August 2009. This is my "Power Ranger" pose. Swt!!!

Project 1A my HOME ~ Content 2 "My Big Bang!"

10 July 2009
Today all HBP students gathered at 3.00pm at E48b. Then our dean, Mr Mahyuddin is being invited to open the ceremony by giving part of speech. Our seniors were playing around by sticking a sheet of paper printed "dean" and "deputy dean" on their shirt which are removed from the seat. After that, we were given some information about which type of attire is suitable and assemble venue. Then we were told to gather at the stadium that is near to RST at 5.30pm to play futsal together. However only a small portion of the students enjoy the game. I chatted with my group members and i found that one of them originates from China. Although we are same race, but the slang that we speak is totally different. It is a cultural shock for me as i never talk to Chinese who came from Hebei China before. At around 7.00pm, the gathering dismissed and we went for our dinner. The seniors said that we have to assemble again at Dataran Merah at about 8.30pm. The following activities is designing our group's sculpture something that i assume it to be similar with landmark. Our team's cheer is SOUL. The meaning behind it is we are in the same university, we share the same dream, we have the same target that is we want to graduate from USM. That is why we have the same spirit and soul as well. We are marching towards the same destination. When the activity is going to end, it rained cats and dogs. We went back to our hostel without an umbrella and it was 1am in the midnight!

11 July 2009
Today we were asked to gather at 10am in the morning at Dataran Merah. We gathered according to our group. Then we were given some straws, newspaper, rope and EGG.The purpose is they want us to build a carrier which can carry and avoid the EGG from broken when it is threw from 2nd floor. Then we start our work by thinking how to build the carrier. At about 2pm++, the contest started. Some group's egg broken and fortunately our group's egg remain intact. (Oh! God bless us) . This is quite interesting for all of us. We feel satisfied when we saw our egg still in good state. For those group whose egg broken, their marks will be deducted. But some of the group play foul by stick the tape on the egg and of course their egg did not break. After that, we took photo with our egg. HaHa~~

12 July 2009
Our activity started at 10am in the morning. Our group combined with another group and we cooperate to perform on the stage. The theme is metamorphosis which means transformation. After discussion, we decided to demonstrate human life from the old age to middle age and modern age. Besides, we were required to wear mask in the banquet at night. As i am my group's leader, i have responsible to get the mask for my group members. After looking for it near Sg.Dua entrance, finally i found a package of mask which cost only RM3.50. At night, the banquet starts. We all were wearing our masks and watch performance brought by every groups. Some of it quite funny and interesting especially when those international students show their uniqueness. Although i don't really understand their languages. We were served with meal too. After the exhibition match, prize and hampers were given to those winners for this 3 days long orientation. And finally the orientation is end.

Project 1A my HOME ~ Content 1 "What I Read Today, 06 July 2009, 0900-1200"

Today is 6 July 2009. I have my first lecture for RUS 101 subject.
Our lecturer, Mr Wan Burhanuddin initially taught us about Reading & Documenting.
He has introduced six elements to us and these elements are stated as below:

1st element is INTENTION.
This is the most important element because when we start doing something, we must have intention. It is just like when you are hungry you will think of eating (your intention to eat) then only you will looking for food. Without intention we are unable to get things done. But before having intention, we need to possess knowledge about the things we want to do.

2nd element is ACT.
Act is important as well. After having intention, we will take action. For example, after we intend to eat. we will act by going to restaurant, cooking by ourself or go to buy food. Intention is useless unless we take action. This is why people always said "Don't just talk, we must take action".

3rd element is PRODUCT.
This is the outcome of our intention and act. However the product can be desirable or undesirable. Just like after we study hard for the exam, we may get a good result but we still stand a chance to failed it. As saying goes, what we have done is what we get. In a nutshell, product is the consequence of our act.

4th element is ACTORS.
An actor is defined as a person who acts and get things done. When we want something done we must get a doer. Thus a doer is the actor. By having a simple example, when we hungry we intend to eat. This is followed by our action of looking for food. Since we are the ones who are acting therefore we are the actors.

5th element is RULES.

When we want to do something, there are always some rules for us to comply to. Rules are principles and it is a basic generalization that is commonly accepted. Besides, it can be used as a basis for reasoning. For instance, when we are driving on the road, there is velocity limit which we can't exceed. We must obey the rule or else we may be fined. Rules mention what we can do and what we can't do under certain condition.

6th element is SITE.

According to the web definition, site is the piece of land which something is located. Let us take USM as our example, our campus is situated at Penang island. So Penang Island is the site for USM. When we take action we will usually choose an suitable site for our intention. This is the reason USM is built in the bustling city and not on a hilltop.
